Hi there, I’m Sammy Carter – and welcome to my little corner of the internet where chickens rule the roost!

I’ve been raising backyard chickens for over 12 years now, and I started this blog to help others discover the joy, challenges, and life lessons that come with a flock of your own.
What began as a couple of hens in a small DIY coop has grown into a full-blown passion. From breed selection and coop design to seasonal care and egg-laying troubleshooting — I’ve seen (and solved!) just about everything.
Why I Started
When I was starting out, I had so many questions — and so few answers. I was digging through forums, outdated blog posts, and conflicting advice just to keep my flock healthy. I thought, “Why isn’t there one place with clear, honest, and experience-based chicken care?”
That’s exactly what I set out to build here. My mission is simple:
To provide real, practical, trustworthy advice for chicken lovers at every stage of their journey.
What You’ll Find Here
- Beginner guides to help you get started with confidence
- DIY coop-building advice that’s actually doable
- Health & nutrition tips from real experience
- Product reviews based on what works (and what doesn’t)
- Answers to real-world chicken problems you won’t find in textbooks
Everything I write is based on hands-on experience, hours of research, and a genuine love for backyard chickens. I also reference trusted external sources — including university extension programs, veterinary manuals, and agriculture experts — to back up what I share.
A Blog You Can Trust
I’m not here to flood you with fluff. Every article on this blog is crafted to be genuinely helpful, easy to follow, and grounded in experience.
I don’t accept sponsored posts, and my reviews are honest — whether I’m recommending a product or warning you away from a dud.
I’m proud to run WeLoveChickens.co with integrity, and I hope this site becomes your go-to resource for raising happy, healthy chickens.
